National Honor Society Sock Drive A Hit

Torrance, CA (October 17, 2014): Over the course of two weeks at the end of September, the BMHS chapter of the National Honor Society held a sock drive to support local South Bay charities. We are excited to announce that our community collected well over 1,000 pair of socks!

The majority of the socks were donated to 1736 Crisis Center in Torrance and the balance were donated to the BMHS Concordia Club to be distributed to Sr. Margaret Farrell from Covenant House.

In response to the donations, the 1736 Crisis Center expressed their gratitude to the BMHS community of students:

“Thank you to the generous students at Bishop Montgomery for the incredible amount of new socks for our clients. We sent a box of new socks to each of our 3 shelters for battered women and their children; a box to our homeless youth shelter; a box to our veterans program; as well as giving new socks to each of our therapists and case managers to pass along to their clients. Your generosity was far reaching and will help so many families and persons in crisis.  We thank you for always thinking of our clients.”
