Key Club "Takes Over" Torrance Kiwanis Meeting

Torrance, CA (January 10, 2017): Each year, the Torrance Kiwanis invite BMHS Key Club board members to run one of their meetings. January 10 was the day for eight Bishop students to enjoy lunch with the Kiwanis and guided the club through their noontime gathering. They are pictured at right with Torrance Kiwanis President Milton Harris.

After Harris opened the meeting, he turned things over to BMHS Key Club President Natsuki Hishinuma '17. Natsuki was accompanied by her fellow board members Vice President Kristen Powell '17; Co-Secretary Jacen Castillo '18; Co-Secretary Eloise Belandres '19; Historian Joe Capico '18; Editor Evan Lam '18; Events Chair Stephanie Lew '17; and Immediate Past President and Division Executive Assistant Celina Villanueva '17. After leading the group in the Pledge of Allegiance, Natsuki gave Evan the opportunity to lead the Kiwanis pledge and the Key Club Pledge. Stephanie offered the invocation.

Key Club is one of over 30 co-curricular organizations and clubs on the BMHS campus and is sponsored by Kiwanis International. Key Club assists Kiwanis in carrying out its mission to serve the children of the world through service in their communities, such as park clean ups and clothing and food drives. Students learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district and international levels.  BMHS' Key Club is open to students of all grade levels and has been serving local and global communities for over 30 years.
