Music & World Languages Italy Trip a Success

Bishop Montgomery Music & World Languages Italy Tour a Huge Success

Torrance, CA (April 12, 2016): The BMHS Music and World Languages Spring Tour to Rome and Vatican City was an incredible success! 28 students and 14 chaperones enjoyed eight days of sights, sounds and tastes in "the eternal city," including performing as a choir and band for the Papal audience on Wednesday, March 30, Mass in St. Peter's Basilica on Friday, April 1, and the Papal Mass of Divine Mercy on Sunday, April 3.

The pilgrimage included stops at all of the Vatican cathedrals and many of the churches and sites of ancient and medieval Rome, as well as a day trip to Naples and Pompeii. The students were very busy, but still managed to find three afternoons of free time for shopping, touring, and tasting throughout "the city of seven hills" - and they've returned with stories and memories for a lifetime.

"The trip was fantastic!  We had a great group of students and parents," said Linda Reano, a faculty member and one of the head chaperones. "We were very well taken care of by everyone. I love the Italian language, food and culture and am always very happy when I am there. It was wonderful to be able to share this experience, especially since some of our group had never been to Italy before. My favorite part was being present in St. Peter's Square, surrounded by people from all over the world, experiencing the feeling of being so close to Pope Francis.  As if just being there wasn't enough, the fact that we sang and performed was an unforgettable honor that I will always treasure. Viva l'Italia!"

Arrivederci, Roma!
