Gatorade Brings “G Week” to Bishop Montgomery

Torrance, CA (September 2, 2015): On September 9, Gatorade will bring "G Week” to campus for BMHS’ student-athletes. The event kick off will include information about Gatorade’s products that support athletic performance and the impact and importance hydration and nutrition can have during practices and games. Some lucky student winners will receive Gatorade bottles, NFL style Gatorade towels, or other Gatorade merchandise. Everyone in attendance will have the opportunity to sample Gatorade performance products.

According to Gatorade, the goal of the G Week program is multi-faceted. In addition to encouraging “athlete education” by demonstrating the importance of sports nutrition and proper fueling habits, Gatorade also seeks to offer student athletes “product experience” with the opportunity to sample their G Series items. The G Series offers a variety of products designed to fuel training and performance and includes pre-performance energy chews, in-game hydration (Thirst Quencher) drinks, and post-activity recovery protein shakes. Head Varsity Football Coach Ed Hodgkiss sees “G Week” as a useful learning experience for his athletes: “The players are familiar with Gatorade; it’s a brand they’ve grown up with. So when Gatorade, a source they like and trust, delivers a strong, direct message about the importance of hydration and proper nutrition, it helps us drive home the message for these athletes to take care of their bodies and stay in top form for competition.”

Through the G Week program, Gatorade aims to stress the value of proper hydration and nutrition for young athletes and highlight the importance these facets of health can have on the body during physical activity. It also seeks to build a relationship with athletes and show them hydration and nutrition options that they can use to support future athletic performances.
