Spanish III

Spanish III is a continuation of Spanish II and a culmination of a three year sequence. It offers students an opportunity to further enhance their reading, writing, speaking and comprehension skills of the Spanish language through varied class activities and projects. The class is geared toward the development of the students’ ability to use the language in a variety of culturally-appropriate communicative tasks in all three modes of communication: interpersonal, interpretive and presentational.

Goals:

Communicate in Spanish.
Gain knowledge and understanding of the cultures of the world.
Connect with other disciplines and acquire information.
Develop insight into the nature of language and culture.
Participate in communities at home and around the world.

Objectives:

  • Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions.
  • Students understand and interpret spoken and written Spanish on a variety of topics.
  • Students present information, concepts and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.
  • Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the products and perspectives of Hispanic cultures.
  • Students reinforce and further their knowledge of other disciplines through Spanish.
  • Students acquire information and recognize the distinctive viewpoints that are only available through the Spanish language and its cultures.
  • Students demonstrate understanding of the nature of language through comparisons between Spanish and English.
  • Students demonstrate understanding of the concept of culture through comparisons between Hispanic cultures and their own.
  • Students use Spanish both within and beyond the school settings.
  • Students show evidence of becoming life-long learners by using Spanish for personal enjoyment and enrichment.
