Doug Mitchell

Head Academic Counselor (A – Gat)

Mr. Mitchell is currently in his 10th year as an academic counselor at BMHS, and his 20th year overall at BMHS. Prior to moving into the counseling office, Mr. Mitchell taught in the social studies department, primarily as a U.S. History teacher. In addition to being the counselor for students with last names beginning with A – Gat, he also serves as the Associate Athletic Director and he is in his 20th season as the head coach for the boys’ basketball program.

Mr. Mitchell is a 1976 graduate of South Torrance High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills in 1988. He completed his secondary teaching credential in social studies at Mount St. Mary’s College and he is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Educational Administration at National University.

Mr. Mitchell enjoys being an academic counselor because of the one-on-one contact that he has with the outstanding students here at Bishop Montgomery. Mr. Mitchell and his wife, Elaine, have two children, Lauren and Drew. Mr. Mitchell enjoys spending time with his friends and family and following the Duke University basketball team.



Leticia Orozco

Academic Counselor (Ge– M)

Ms. Orozco is currently in her 9th year as an academic counselor at BMHS, and her 10th year overall at BMHS. Prior to moving into the counseling office, Ms. Orozco taught Spanish here at BMHS. She serves as the counselor for students with last names beginning with Ge – M.

Ms. Orozco is a 1992 graduate of Venice High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Wellesley College (MA) in 1996. She completed her Master’s in Education with a Preliminary Administrative Credential in 2004 from USC.

Ms. Orozco enjoys being an academic counselor because the faculty, staff, and students here make Bishop Montgomery an enjoyable and rewarding place to be. “I simply love it,” states Ms. Orozco. Ms. Orozco and her husband, Steve, enjoy traveling and camping in their spare time.



Celeste Adams

Academic Counselor (N– Z)

Ms. Adams is currently in her 5th year as an academic counselor at BMHS, and her 10th year overall at BMHS. Prior to becoming an academic counselor, she taught freshman and sophomore english at BMHS. She also served as the head coach for the girls’ frosh/soph volleyball team here at BMHS from 1999-2005 and assisted with the girls' varsity volleyball team as well. During the winter, she is an assistant varsity soccer coach at Chadwick School.

Ms. Adams is a 1994 graduate of Bishop Montgomery High School where she was an outstanding student-athlete. She was named Sportswoman of the Year after her senior year and she led the girls' volleyball team to a CIF Championship in 1992-1993 as well as the girls' soccer team to a CIF Championship in 1993-94. She was named All-CIF Goalkeeper of the Year for her efforts in leading the Lady Knights to the title. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English with a writing emphasis from Loyola Marymount University in 1998. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in counseling with a PPS credential at Loyola Marymount University.

Ms. Adams enjoys being an academic counselor because she is able to mentor and guide students to make good decisions about both college and life. She states, "I am here for the students, whether it is to listen or help in any way I can." In her spare time, Ms Adams enjoys reading, playing and watching sports, and traveling. Her favorite quote is from Maya Angelou, "If you don't like something, change it. If you can't change it, change your ATTITUDE!" Students have the power to change and control their destinies...it's just a matter of attitude!
